Professional Virtual AssistantIn 2014, after being downsized for the second time in her career as an Administrative Professional, Melissa Haddad took it as a sign that the corporate world was finished with her and the entrepreneurial world was awaiting her arrival.  In February 2015, while assessing small business needs and armed with a passion for helping companies to maximize their time and profitability, Melissa founded MH Virtual Assistant Services.   Her mission was to help small business owners find valuable solutions for their business by providing the best possible options to move forward and grow their business, all while saving them money and time.  This became her business standard in which she prides herself in to this day.  At age 39, even before the first anniversary of MH Virtual Assistant, Melissa had set her sights on expanding her business.  In April 2017, Melissa rebranded her company to Efficient Business Solutions, which reflected more of what her company represented.  Melissa has big plans for EBS for 2018 which will continue to service her existing clients, while adding more value, focusing on their needs and going the extra mile ..."the best is yet to come."

This is just the tip of the iceberg for Melissa as she paves the way to becoming a successful entrepreneur in the VA field, she has been interviewed by the Canadian Association of Virtual Assistants (CAVA) and Administrative Assistant’s Update, October 2015 newsletter issues.  She has also appeared on Daytime Durham on Rogers TV twice and has spoken at small business workshops and tradeshows.

“Failure is not an option,” she told Administrative Assistant’s Update.  “This is my dream.”
Overall, Melissa's experience spans over two decades as an Administrative Professional in both large and smaller companies, which include the following:

  • Mercer HR Consulting, which had many branches to the company and has since rebranded to Mercer;
  • The Canadian Institute, which is a conference production company;
  • Medtec Marketing, which was an x-ray supply and medical equipment company; and
  • Medis, which has changed its name to its parent company McKesson.

All of the companies and positions were stepping stones for Melissa to learn and hone her skills to lead her to her true calling, a business owner.

Melissa is happily married to her college sweetheart.  They have two children, an 11 year old daughter and a 7 year old son.  She is able to work from home while her children are at school.  When asked about how this transition has impacted her and her family, Melissa replies “They are my reason for starting my business.  I want my children to see that you can be whatever you want to be, but you must work hard for it.”
